"Beautiful Laughing Sisters"

Before reading the story about the “Beautiful Laughing Sisters” I always knew that countries like Pakistan had to go through the troubles of Saddam Hussein. The troubles that they had to go through were ones like torture and rape of innocent people. What I wanted to know was how the people of the countries managed to make it through all the suffering they had to be in because of that one man. After reading the article I realized how badly these people were abused and how badly they were mistreated. I also found out about some interesting stories that happened and occurred in these countries that I never heard about. What I still want to know is why were these people treated this way, what value did they hold against the man responsible for this crime.

“Facebook, Twitter crooks just a click away”

Before reading the article “Facebook, Twitter crooks just a click away” I always knew that there were people on face book that are not there to network but to get something about of someone wallet. What I want to know is how these people could be identified, we call them today online crooks but how do we know which one is which. After reading the article I found out that there are more cyber thieves targeting popular social networking sites that provide a gold mine of personal information, according to the FBI. Since 2006, nearly 3,200 account hijacking cases have been reported to the Internet Crime Complaint Center. What I still want to know is how these thieves or crooks could be identified, and how can we know if we didn’t get hacked already.

“The genius brothers behind Google Wave”

Before reading the article “The genius brothers behind Google Wave”, I was always interested in who could make such an advanced website like Google. What I do know about Google is that it’s the most commonly used website used to today because people all over the world use for all kinds of reasons such as education and finance. After reading the article I have found out that the makers of Google were Lars and Jens Rasmussen who happened to be broke and jobless at a time when they made it big in the Web world by selling their idea for Google maps. I also found out that the brothers had to go through a lot throughout their lives just to become who they are today. What I still want to know is how the two brothers managed to come up with such a great idea during their time.

Eye Communication

Before reading the article “Eye Communication” I already knew that today a lot of people usually just look at one an others eye to show either interest or confirmation of what the person is telling you. This article discusses a lot about what does it mean to look at someone straight into his or hers eye, I myself everyday look at people’s eyes but I did not know it could mean so much just by doing that. What I want to know is if it’s disrespectful to look at someone in the in eye while he is talking to you or if it is something you must do. After reading this article I found out that eye communication means so many things in the United States and around the world in different cultures. I found out that people from Japan in the Japanese culture that it is disrespectful to look at someone in the eye when talking to you. I also found out in Hispanic cultures that looking in the eye means equality which could be disrespectful for children when consulting parents. I also found out that we blink about 15 times a minute so that we can lubricate our eyes. What I still want to know is when eye contact should be used and when should it not be used. Should it be used during a meeting, a class, a conversation among friends, or even when giving a lecture.

NASA: There is water in lunar soil

What
The article is about a bunch of scientists from NASA that have been finding traces of oxygen and other chemicals or elements that make up water from the moon.

Where.
The article's main focus was on the moon, where they found water in the "rocky environments and in craters"

Who
A bunch of scientists from NASA lead the research but the team was lead by Carle Pieters.

When
The findings of these elements started in the 1960s

Why
Scientists are really trying hard to see if there could be life outside of the earth or if any elements like water could be found in other planets including the moon.

How
The article says "their overall findings also were confirmed by data from high-tech spectrometer on the Cassini spacecraft". From this i am guessing that they are using high end and sophisticated technology.

2009 H1N1 Flu (Swine Flu)

2009 H1N1 Flu (Swine Flu) and You

Before reading this article I wanted to know what the H1N1 Swine Flu is and what does it do to you. I Also wanted to know if there was a vaccine for the flu. What I already knew about the H1N1 was that it is a flu that came from Swine (pigs) and that it is a serious problem in the United States. As I kept reading about the article I found out that the H1N1 is called a the "swine flu" because the virus its self has many genes that come from pigs. I also found out that the symptoms of the H1N1 is fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. It can also cause people to start vomiting and diarrhea. People infected with the flu may have respiratory symptoms without a fever. There are also cases where people actually died from the swine flu. After reading this article i realized how dangerous the swine flue really is and how we can be more cautious about it as we go on with our days.

I also wanted to quote something I read in the article that I would want others to look at:
"Take these everyday steps to protect your health:

* Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
* Wash your hands often with soap and water. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub.*
* Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread this way.
* Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
* If you are sick with flu-like illness, CDC recommends that you stay home for at least 24 hours after your fever is gone except to get medical care or for other necessities. (Your fever should be gone without the use of a fever-reducing medicine.) Keep away from others as much as possible to keep from making others sick."
