Thank you, Ma'm

I found the story "Thank you, Ma'm" to be very ironic. The reason why the story seemed too ironic to me was because of what happened between the Woman and Roger. Roger tried to rob the old woman and take her purse, but after trying and failing in his actions, the elderly woman took him to his house, washed him up, fed him, and also gave him money to go buy the shoes that he wanted in the begging of the story. I seemed this was really ironic because most people would call cops on thieves not support them and actually giving them what they want or need. I really liked the story though, I hope it can be a relfections to others to show people that you can get what you want without having to steal.

Indispensible Friendship

1) Selfish people can’t be good friends because selfish people only want to be your friend to use you when they are in need of something. They will act as your friend but in reality they are just there to take over you.

2) The author kept the friendship with the junior high school students who made her uncomfortable because she didn’t want to feel left out or lonely.

3) A real friend ship is different than the other types of friend ship because a real friend ship is actually a good and true friendship which everyone needs. The other type of friendships is the ones that you want to avoid.

4) The author was saying that when you are in a real friendship, you are yourself and not pretending to be someone which brings the best of persons out of you.

5) Of the three types of friendships, the real friendship is the one the title refers to because the real type of friendship is the crucial part of the story and the word indispensible means that you can’t throw away, and the author wanted us to understand that the real friendship is indispensible.

Before reading the essay “Indispensible Friendship” I knew that there are many kinds of friends now days that people seem to have, ones who they trust the most and some who they don’t trust at all. I myself have many friends and most of them I do trust, and the ones I don’t trust I just play along with them. I want to know how some friends act the way they do when they get use to being your friend even after a long time. After reading this essay I found out that there are many types of friendships that people end up having and learning from. One friendship that I see mostly happens is the superficial friendship, where people don’t act themselves just so they can fit in. After reading the essay I still want to know why the author only discussed about real friendships in a positive way and not the other friends ships
